The Department of E-Commerce within the Ministry of Energy, Telecommunications and E-Commerce, in partnership with the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce – Retail Division, the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation (BSBDC) and North Rock Communications, has launched a new initiative - eMonday.

eMonday also aims to increase online shopping in Bermuda. November 15th, 2010 will be the first eMonday and the Department is encouraging all e-tailers to participate. The goal is to increase sales by using online shopping discounts and promotions only available for one day – eMonday.

Businesses or organizations who wish to sign up to participate may do so at www.eMonday.bm, the official eMonday website where shoppers will find an overview of all discounts and specials being offered by the participating business on Monday, November 15th.

Participating businesses must accept orders online, or accept orders online with the ability to provide full online payments. E-taliers must also offer a discount or promotion on e-Monday to participate.

eMonday is also designed to provide benefits for local e-tailers by identifying and promoting them, providing information and resources for e-commerce startups through networking and information sessions and to support Global Entrepreneurship week.

Other sponsors include the Bank of Butterfield, North Rock Communications, the Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative of Bermuda and Quo Vadis.
