I grew up on the Canadian west coast in a damp climate with lush foliage. The rain intensified the colour and blurred and softened the natural world. As a child I spent long days in the garden, in the woods and on the beaches exploring my environment. Ponds and streams, trees and flowers and their inhabitants would be a continual source of inspiration and spiritual renewal. I sought to understand life through the processes and magic I witnessed in these quiet places.
